is this normal-rear fender well

Are the welds normal for the inner fender wells of the rear of my truck? Hard to believe it would look like that from the factory. Both sides are like that though. Thanks

Mine are like that although the gaps are a little better. That is part of the bedside where the inner fender bolts to. I don't have a pic but maybe someone else can get one for you.

I have split several bedsides apart to get inside to do some cleaning and metal prep. Yes those are normal while yours may look a little off I'd say they are factory. Every one I've ground down or cut into had the "ball" of weld or a clump like your showing instead of a cleaner look you might expect. Jim

A poster above said it is where the bolt in part of the inner fender is. That isn't the case, it is the inner part of the bedside that the inner fender bolts to. I think he may have said it that way and I misread him. Anyway it is the inner half of the bedside. When someone talks of "splitting " a bedside this is the part you are left with once the outer part is removed. Jim
