Inquiring minds would like to know....

Took the bed off to get at the rear brake lines a little easier. My boy asked me why the square holes in the bed washers are offset.....so I took a deep breath and started to answer....but nothing came out except air....lol.... So before we head home, we thought we'd check in and ask the masters... So next time we're asked...we'll know...

The offset keeps the bolts from turning when you tighten them.

That statement would make sense mechanically. Use what your nose knows!

This is correct.

This is not correct.

I installed about 900,000 pickup boxes. Believe me: that box is going to get tightened down wherever it lands.

At one compete vehicle per minute there is no massaging going on to make sure the box is lined up with the cab. You give it a little jiggle to make sure all the bolts are through and "brrrrppp" it's on to the next one.
