Fuseblock radio terminal
Is this terminal supposed to be constant hot? I hooked up a test light to it and it shows constant power, with the test light but the light dims in the off position and becomes brighter when key is switched to on or acc. Maybe a short somewhere?

Re: Fuseblock radio terminal
The radio connection on the fuse block is a switched terminal, kinda sounds like a short if the radio is unplugged from it when you test it.
Make sure the radio wires are not on the wrong terminal? is it stock radio or after market? Radios today have a power lead (red) that had constant battery voltage, usually a 12 or 10 gauge wire. A memory wire sometimes yellow or orange usually 14 gauge has to have constant power. And a switched signal wire that signals the radio to turn on is also usually a 14 gauge wire. The switch wire on today's radios would attach to the radio terminal on the fuse panel.

Re: Fuseblock radio terminal
the memory on after market radios will have a constant power pull from the battery as mentioned above. I was testing for a power drain the other day and had to remember to disconnect my radio wire from the fuse block so the memory drain wouldn't interfere with what I was looking for. my radio is also connected to the original cig lighter connection in the fuse block. the lighter has been gone for yrs.

Thats what I was going to do, use the cig lighter for memory and use the radio on the fuse block but when the ign is in the off position it still has a little voltage going through just enough to give the stereo enough voltage to turn on but not enough to keep it on. I am thinking there might be a short. Everything else works as it should and I have never had a dead battery. |
