Multi-function switch replacement... will this part number work?

So I did some messing with my Suburban tonight, and checked all the wiring and vacuum for my CC and wipers. Wipers barely move, and CC doesn't work. While doing some Googling I checked the wires coming from the multi-function switch lever on my column and found some frayed wiring. I'm looking to replace it. I was going to use Dorman part number 49286, but there's no chrome stem option. While doing some Googling, I found Dorman part number 49284, appears to be the exact same thing, but with the Chrome stem. The application says the same years as the other part number but for G series vans, not for C/K/R/V series trucks. I haven't found any other multi-function switch listed for our application with the chrome stem, so I'm seriously considering picking this switch up, but I'm hoping to find some reassurance here. As far as all resources list online, they are virtually the same part, the only difference to be seen is black versus chrome. Does anyone have any insight?

EDIT: Yes, I just prefer the looks of the flashy chrome stuff sometimes

Certainly the flashy chrome vs black parts are interchangeable (they were released for the different trim levels).

I'm not as sure about G Van vs C/K but intuitively it seems they should be the same.

I have ordered a couple through the LMC catalog and they were fine. You might check there since they give a bit more detail around the part than what you seem to be getting from the Dorman catalog.

I don't know on the part numbers but do know that the vans had different plugs for the multifunction switch.(cruise control) they can be cut and spliced to use your plug but that kind of defeats the purpose of getting a new switch

I found mine on eBay, with the flashy chrome. Look up the seller:
