My 67 C20 Mild restoration with LS swap.
Hello to all.
I have been wanting to get my hands on a 67 or 68 for few years now. Kinda of a mid life crisis present to my self to keep me busy while kids are away to college. Great project to keep you busy until you wish you had an extra set of hands. Anyways, i call it mild be but that is far from the truth. The more inwork on it the more i find this I like to fix. I am not aiming for SEMA Show quality but i do want it to be mine and an everyday driver. I bought the truck last September from original owner/ family. Drove it home (about a 250 mile trip) after been siting for a few years. Started right up. Body is straight, the only rust is in the bed (surface rust only) the best conidition I have seen with in my budget range. The plans are to keep it mostly all original with minor mods. Paint chasis Paint body complete (68 chevy turquoise metallic) Correcting only the small dings not going to take it down to the bare metal But i will be fixing some holes here and there. As you will see in the pictures to come. Engine & tans swap (engine from a 2000 chevy Silverado) New gas tank in rear covering side tank hole cut out. Currently 8 lugs maybe converting it into 6 or 5 but not in a rush for that. Keep it long bed For now I think that will cover my wish list. I might add to it or shrink it as I go. Again I am by no means a pro at this. I am just having fun with it project that has been my dream for sometime now. Please enjoy and feel free to comment as I go along. I can sure use the advise / help and members opinions. Cheers! |

Looks like a great start! You should really slow down some when you're taking pictures...

Looks like a nice truck to start out with.
Not sure if it is a '67, it has reflectors on the fenders that didn't start untill '68. Good luck with it and you should be able to find out everything you need to know in this forum. |

Term touching up is a little understated, what you have done to get the mirror finish on your inner fenders. Awesome.... a black stripe would look good with your finish color also.

Re: My 67 C20 Mild restoration with LS swap.
Adding more pictures of work I have done to it so far.
First thing I did was remove that huge rear bumper. Also removed the side light, tie down hooks, large mirrors. started to work on the bed getting it sanded (seem to have had some paint spilled inside and left there for a few years) |

Re: My 67 C20 Mild restoration with LS swap.
I have remove the bed and the 2 fiberglass gas tanks that were mounted to the frame.
I pressure wash the complete bed inside and under and the rear part section of chassis. There is no rust on the frame so there was very little to prep it for paint. |

Re: My 67 C20 Mild restoration with LS swap.
Since it is a Camper Special there are lots of Aux items that i do not care about some are factory and some were added on.
Aux power outlet on the right side of the cab (deleted) toggle switches on the dash along with a few light indicators (holes in the dash) all have been covered and primer over. Removed the AC compressor (was not connected), Cruise Control, addition gauges under the dash along with a break assist and ECO minder. and last but not least the pioneer cassette player. Luckily they did not cut the dash up. I am ordering a factory radio and installing it back in. this is all little steps but one step at a time. |
