Aftermarket armrests

Does anyone know if the aftermarket armrests like lmc has come apart like the factory ones or are they made just a one piece? I want to be able to change the fabric color and paint the bases a different color. Thanks

I am thinking they do come apart, however I will be asking LMC when I do get ready to buy them myself. Cause I want to do the same thing.

Yeah I asked lmc, they said they should but didn't sound real confident. I ordered a set from classic parts, so will see when they get here.

They do come apart, the 1966 armrests are molded one piece.

I can give you one piece of advice, really study and look at the mounting instructions from the accessory catalog. its harder than you think to get the holes in the right location. I mis-drilled mine and will have to modify my mount , I'm off a 1/2"

The cheaper ones from LMC, the molded ones, fasten with bolts that go thru the arm rest, then thru door panel, and then use nuts/washers on the back side, giving a great and solid feeling mount. They look to be easily paintable--altho' they do not come apart. [Mine came in black, which suited my interior quite well.] Their sturdiness really surprised me. No more pulling away from the door panel with the externally-mounted ones.

However, with a bit of imagination, 2-tone-painting these molded/polyurethane(?) ones should be an easy task, even with a novice painter.

Just a fyi, and good luck.
