lower control arm shaft ??????
I have my truck torn down and I'm just starting to put it back together. I got the upper control shafts in with no problem. My ??? is about the lower shafts, I have them in the control arm but they are tight as hell to turn by hand. Is that the way they are supposed to be, the top shafts spin pretty easy.

If all the pcs are new, they will be a little stiff......if they take grease, & move up/down after they are on the truck (by hand) without flexing the arm too hard, you should be ok. Good luck, crazyL

Might were as tight as hell, I had to borrow the big wrench and a huge bar to crack mine, they were hard to turn even after I had them back off most of the way.
It was tough getting them back together with the control arms loose, really had to reef on them while a buddy helped. All worked out fine though! Good luck, it's good to know they've been done.

Thanks for the replies, They make my feel better. This is the first time that I've ever had a truck completely apart and I don't have much faith in my ability to put it back together. It sure was easy to take apart though. I'm not even sure why I did it, although I think this board had alot to do with that. I'm what some of you would call a "lurker". I don't post much but I'm here almost everyday just trying to get a little knowledge.

The top shafts shouldn't spin easy. Did you replace them? For me, this is one of those "while I have it apart" places. I just lowered and puts front discs on my 69, ended up replacing all 4 control arm shafts and ball joints. They were all original parts, as near as I could tell.
BTW, grease the threads on the control arm shafts before you assemble them, it's tough to get grease to flow through the threads on new ones.
