1960 - 63 aftermarket window seal / felt kits

Purchased a felt kit .. The sill felt / anti rattle .. Sits lower in the door .. Window won't roll all the way up .. Took em back and got the " universal " .. It's one 5 ft.long felt stick .. Says he glued his in his door

Has anyone done this successfuly ?
What glue would you recommend ?
Can I glue to original sill metal backing ?

I found some excellent new ( used ) doors and don't want to rust them out.

Any and all help appreciated

God bless and thank you in advance

Pete

I haven't done this yet, but it is on my list. I think you need to clean the old channel thoroughly. I would try a wire wheel on my grinder , followed by brake cleaner, or acetone. I would use contact cement to glue it in. It would be tricky, but I think it would work well. Whatever you do, good licks with it.

I ordered and they sent the one piece also. It worked fine. I don't think I glued it in. by the time I got the felt seated in the channel all the way I ended up with a gap on the top end, both sides maybe 1/4 in. it's kinda hard to figure cuase ya kinda have to put the bottom in first because there is a little clip down there it's slides into. anyway. ya shouldn't need glue I don"t think.

Max
Be careful with a wire wheel .. These are pretty thin once you pull the old felt out.

This is how I p!an to glue the new felt to old will backing .. Zip ties and C-clamps

OK . I put the whole piece in. felt and clip strip. I don't remember any trouble except that I wish I had found stainless ones. I will say that I had to work to get the window to come up the last 1/2 in. at first. I can still fell it a little bit but they roll up fine. maybe you can work it up there a few times
