Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
I started on the 67 3/4 ton GMC I picked up last summer. Porterbuilt stage 2 rear, stage 1 front and keeping the 8 lugs. Disc front and rear with 20" wheels. I'm not tearing this one down to the frame. I know from experience the amount of time it takes and they don't always get put back together. The truck was a 1 owner with 50,000 miles on it has had 1 repaint and is 99% rust free. Here are some pics.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Last pic. The Porterbuilt parts are superior quality. The welds and fabrication are top notch. The only problem I ran into being a 3/4 ton and having a dana 60 rear is the lower shock mount is a little to close to the rear. Solution is add thin lowering blocks to move it all down.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Are you doing the suspension, brakes, and wheel stuff and calling it done? Truck looks real nice...

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Yes that is the plan. Keeping it simple porterbuilt front and rear Viair compressor and tanks, disc front and rear, newer style steering gear all ball joints and tie rod ends. I'll try to post more pics of the truck later. It's original right down to the keys.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Such a COOL build.
I know the purist wil chime in, but I love the direction you are going and keeping it 8-lug will make it even more unique. This is what member way2lo2 has used to make LOTS of money on old vehicles. He calls it the SDR,... or "stop, drop, and roll" treatment. Good brakes, low suspension, and cool wheels.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Wow, what a nice truck. Cool build - way to let those nutz hang and air out a 3/4 ton! That's gonna be a bad motherlugger (sorry, I couldn't resist)

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Got the lowering blocks in to correct the problem with the jumbo differential. Also got the tanks and compressor location figured out.
1" lowering blocks in and lower shock mount is all good now. |

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
EXACTLY WHAT I was thinking Ed. Figured it would get me close, & I would take it from there. My DAd used to say "I could tear up a steel anvil with a rubber Mallett. Now I know what he meant. It's all good. Still think this kit looks sweet.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
yes absolutely keep the steelies. I vote for a set of 16.5x9.75 or widen a set of 16x7 accurides. I cant wait to lower my c20 but I want to keep it leaf in the rear.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Where did you get the new axle mounts and U-bolts from. I am installing a Dana 60 from a leaf spring truck into a coil spring truck and have been looking at different sites without luck.
