Horn Demons..Help!

I was trying to install a new seat in my 66 and I dont know if by moving the seat in and out that it may have hit something while doing so (its stock and not adjustable so that big steering wheel is in the way)and the horn just starts going off. So, i took the cover off the steering wheel and took out the tiny switch in it and it still just goes off when i plug the horn back up. Now my truck battery is dead. I havent driven it in a few weeks because of this horror of a seat install. But anyone know what this might be causing the horn to stay on? I have installed a new turn signal switch months ago and had no problem. Even though the horn was always sensitive to the slightest push. And even though the horn is disconnected to the horn could some how have something to do with my battery dying?

The horn goes through a relay IIRC. Even with the horn disconnected, the relay would still be powered and drain the battery. You might have a short in the column wiring or the contacts are not releasing under the horn button.

I took the horn button out and it was still going off. I disconnected the horn from that relay under the hood. And the relay was hot as I was trying to charge the battery. What else is that relay used for? And thanks for the response.

The relay contacts themselves may be stuck?

So, are you saying the relay may need to be replaced? I have yet to trace the wire in the column or to under the hood. As its dark when I get home and the rain wont stop! I only have a carport to work in. Thanks

Re: Horn Demons..Help!

The relay is used for a junction for the main power wire on some years
