Need help with my 292 install in my 46 1/2 ton - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I installed a 69 chevy pu 292 inline 6 in my 46 1/2 ton Chevy pu and then installed a Offenhauser intake with a Edelbrook 4 bbl carburator and then found that the carb. is now sitting at a angle because the intake is made at such a angle to make up for the angle of the engine. I had no idea that these engins were installed at at a such an angle. I'm going to have to make new motor and transmission mounts so I need to find what angle it should be set at or does some one have any other sugestions.

The Offy 5416 4Bbl intake is at the same angle as the GM OEM L6 intakes for '63 model year and later. The 292 configuration has the motor mounts staggered, with the drivers side mount midline and the passenger side mount forward. Did your '46 come from the factory with a V8 or L6?
Is your XMSN and driveline hooked up yet?

No V-8 in '46.... Not til '55

Was the earlier 215/235/261 L6 series set at a different Thrust Angle than the 230/250/292 "L--22, L-25'' series?

I think they were all pretty much the same.... The frame brackets could be a lot different though depending where they mounted on the block.

I was told by Offenhauser that the 292 engins were angled up in the front and that is why there intakes angled down so the carbs. will sit level.

My carb is level on my '68 292. I guess you have to match the later L6 mounting angle.
