New to the forum, door lock question!
I have a question regarding the door locks on my 1970 C-10, can the doors be locked by pushing down the lock button inside then holding the door handle button in on the outside while you close the door? My doors will not lock as I described and I wonder if that is normal or is there something wrong with my doors. Thanks for listening.

Thanks. My 63 Nova can only be locked with the key also but it has no lock knob on the door ledge. It won't take me long to get used to this. Glad to know there is nothing wrong.

I guess the only reason for the knob was to open it with out getting out and walking around are grabbing the door handle itself. I don't really know though.

Re: New to the forum, door lock question!
Is there any known modification that would allow us to simply close the door like regular?

Is everyone really locking the door with the key? Ugg that sounds like a PITA for a daily driver.

Re: New to the forum, door lock question!
I don't know for sure but the only time it would work I would think is when both doors are shut. That may are may not be a problem with it.

Re: New to the forum, door lock question!
the reason for the door lock knobs was so your hunny could reach over and unlock your door after you let her in.

Re: New to the forum, door lock question!
Does anyone know WHY the trucks don't allow this?
I always kind of assumed it was because trucks were commercial so it prevented one guy from locking the keys in the truck on the jobsite. But that's kind of weak. Certainly cars from the same years featured the "hold in the button to lock it" mechanism, so why not trucks?

Re: New to the forum, door lock question!
I drive mine all the time and it's not a problem other than if some one is riding with you. I keep my passenger side door locked at all times any way so I only have to worry with the drivers side.
As far as the door itself goes it may be a simple fix, I personally have never look into it though. The whole key deal was to keep people from locking them in the truck no matter what the use was.

Power lock mod. Simple solution. Yeah it's some work to install, but it's worth it in my opinion.
