Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
Anyone have any pictures of a rear flip kit done on a truck with factory equipped HD springs (8 leafs). I am trying to get a gauge on how low the rear of my 73' will be if I make this happen. I am leaning towards the 5" kit from Western Chassis or the 6" kit from Bell Tech. Thanks in advance...
Mike

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
My 73 had the HD leafs. WC rear flip kit, 2" Bell Tech drop shackles, and overload leaf removed.

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
Thanks Jeff. How much of a drop did you achieve with the overload leaf removed? No C-Notch I gather?

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
Dont know, did it all at once. But since the leafs are now under the axle, i doubt it made a difference. I did have a notch.

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
They end up nearly the same, I had both sets of rear springs on my 73 didn't notice any difference in ride height.
Only real difference was the heavy 1/2 pack didn't hit the frame as often. No notch either.

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
I pulled 3 leafs out and used a flip on my hd 8 pack springs. All together I achieved about 8" drop. That was with a c-notch. Plenty of clearance other than the pumpkin.

Re: Rear Axle Flip kit with HD rear springs
Thanks men for all of the input. I may just pull the overload leaf out but, I will not be doing a C notch at this time. I may wait until I change up the wheels / tires down the road and perform the BBC / Muncie M20 swap.
