47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
I thought this might be helpful to some people so I thought I would post what I did with my speedometer. I found out that the Speedo head out of 67-72 Chevy trucks are identical to the ones in the 47-53. Only difference is the gearing since they are 100 mph gauges. I took the head out of a 67-72 cluster I had laying around and put it in the 50' bucket. I then simply made a sticker with the right scaling and numbers and the design I liked and printed and applied it to the 50' face. Now I have a factory looking Speedo that goes to a hundred and has a good odometer for very little money!...I have a more in depth write on my new blog and the graphic is available for whoever wants it there. https://mayberrycustoms.wordpress.com

Cool beans now you need to start producing the decals for the rest of us.

very good idea, amazing what a little tinkering can get you
if you ever come across a 120 mph, 90* sweep speedo head, keep me in mind

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
Thanks everyone! I figured a few people would appreciate the info...I posted the file for anyone to print and use if they want, but if anyone wants info on one ready to stick on pm me. I have a lot of paper left and would be glad to print some out for a small fee. I have another budget option for the quad gauge I'll be posting on my blog next week so check back.
Thanks guys! Andy |

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
Just realized i forgot to mention in my write up that you have to download the correct font first for the file i posted to look right. So if you downloaded it and it didnt look right at all thats why. Details how to download and install the font is on my blog.

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
I just wrote up a deeper explanation of this gauge graphic making on my blog for people to use in other applications. It should clear up some questions for those wanting to create there own graphics for whatever gauge setup they decide to adapt.
Thanks, Andy |

Pretty badass. But most of it went over my head. Im not dumb. But some of what you are saying was greek to me. Can you post more pictures for us? Either here or on your blog?
Im sure a few of us would rather pay you to make us one. Would be cheaper and easier.

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
Ya I understand it sounds pretty complicated, but a lot of it is just becoming familiar with the program...the physical instillation is easy but making the graphic is the hard part...sometime soon I will just do a quick screen recorded video of how to do it, and put the link to it on my blog. I don't care to create some graphics for a small fee, just pm me if you have an idea and I can see if I can help.
Thanks, Andy |

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
That is fantastic and will be helpful to lots of us. I'm in the middle of my cab floor, put I've pulled and cleaned gauges waiting on new tranny to see if my speedo works. If not, this is the way I will try. Looking forward to your 4 gauge blog too. Thanks?

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
I will be making different variations of these speedo gauge face graphics available shortly, since there seems to be some interest. Also i am working on some matching graphics for the factory quad gauge faces. In the meantime check out my latest blog post for a budget quad gauge option. Thanks everyone, i think there is going to be much more to come.

And then I never did get the download link via email. Can someone email the svg to me? I'll host it so that people can download it without giving out their email. pm me and I'll give you my email for sending it to. Could zip it and have it here as an attachment. |

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
Could you please post the model number of the matching sub mini fuel gauge you located after you bought the 2" gauge. In your blog you said you found a full matching set of all 4 gauges for a little more. Thanks for sharing your time!

Re: 47-53 Speedo Option for those on a budget
just did the quad gauge like yours .looks and worked out great, only thing different I did was glue a little piece of soft vacuum hose around the backside of the glass to space the gauge face away from the glass.
