72 C20 Wiring
I need some wiring help.
My hazard lights are acting erratically. I haven't tested the turn signals as the lever is broken and I'm currently waiting on a new one to arrive. The hazard lights work when they are turned on, and the running lights are off. When the hazard lights are one, and the running lights are on. The hazards no longer blink, and the left turn signal indicator on my dash comes on steady. Any suggestions on where I should be looking for a wiring fault? |

Re: 72 C20 Wiring
Could be the hazard switch itself. When I was 5 I used to play with the one in my Dad's truck because if you did it just right, you could get just one blinker to flash just like when Dad is driving it with the key!
So, if the switch is broken or getting marginal, you might be getting that behavior. Does anything change if you jiggle the hazard switch? Also make sure your signal light lever is in the OFF position (or cancelled), as I'm not sure what it does when you're signally and -then- try to use the hazards. Shouldn't matter unless the ignition is on, but you never know.

When the running lights are on, and the hazard lights are off. The left turn indicator lights up constant. When the running lights are on, and the hazard lights are on. Both turn indicators light up constant. With the steering column wiring disconnected, the left turn indicator still lights up if the running lights are on. |
