This is better....

I know it's not a "show truck" , but I can't stand dirty suspension peeking through big wheels. I had to clean it up some. Here's what it was like...

OK, now this is better. Considering I I didn't remove much, it came out pretty good. Next time I will pull it all apart, and repaint it....

Here's another view. The drop light makes the color look gold, or pewter. It's actually gray...

I didn't have any time left to do the rear suspension. It was 2:00 AM, and time to get some rest. I managed to paint the drum though...

Yeah, I am the rattle can king. I moved my old compressor to my warehouse, and haven't replaced it yet. Until then, I rely on Krylon....

Ken, are those stock A-arms, just modified to fit the bags? I didn't know you had Air-Over-Leaf in the back either...

They are stock A-arms. The bag kit comes with a plate that bolts to the upper spring pocket.

Yes, we decided to "try" keeping it simple, and forgo a 4-link. We removed all but two rear springs, used a bag over kit, and a set of 2" blocks...

Not good. I mean, if I went to all the trouble to do bags, I'd definately go 4-link...how much was the total parts cost on your bag setup Ken? A friend of mine has the exact same setup, and I told him he was crazy for using the stock A-arms. (IMHO, it seems a little jerry-rigged.)

Damn Ken that's freaking beautiful. How much do you charge by the hour When I get the front end torn down and ready to paint I think I'll head to your house for you to paint

I'm w/Ken on his decision guys.... his truck rides very good as it sits w/the air-over-leaf set-up. No need in re-inventing the wheel, which the 4-link would have been in his case. Plus, there's much less work involved.

Also, Timspeed..... what exactly do you find so 'crazy' about using the stock a-arms?

Looks great Ken. Good eye on the details.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Air Lift and ART both make bolt-on kits designed for use with the stock LCA's. I'm keeping the stock control arms for the ease of rebuilding the front-end in the future. Chances are, it won't be easy finding correct bushings for custom control arms in 5+ years, as none to my knowledge, use factory style bushings.

I have basicly the same set up on my blazer. It rides great and is definitely much easier to install. the work to benefit ratio seems a little out of porportion when it come to doing a 4 link on one of these trucks. BTW looks awesome Ken

I have to agree. With the Cool Ride, stock arms and 3" DJM's it layed out plenty fine.

You have a point. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish too.

We decided on this truck to go with a simple set up, that didn't require a lot of fabrication. I was not impressed with the design of ART's 4 link on my Blazer. I tried to get Bill Carlton from Ekstensive Metal works to build a 4 bar system that didn't require a bridge for support. He said he would, but never did.

The decision was made to keep it simple, and use a bolt in system. If this didn't work, all that is required to change to a 4 link is unbolt the bags and springs, and install a 4 link. It works well so it will stay for now.

As far as the front goes, Im not sure why you consider stock A-arms as "a little jerry-rigged"? I agree that tubular A-arms look better, but what is wrong with the stock A-arms? Since I am running dropped spindles, I can't (or won't) combine spindles and dropped A-arms. That doesn't leave me with much choice...

Stop by Wal-Mart on the way, and pick up a 6 pack of Krylon. :p I plan to do the rear axle next. Before that, I plan to buy another compressor, so I can use a paint gun again. Considering the cost of automotive paint these days, I may be better off with Krylon...

Should I be offended by the A-arm statement made by TIMSPEED
(IMHO, it seems a little jerry-rigged.) cause I am the one that installed the front bags on the truck. To make sure I'll ask my wife, she tells me all the time what I should think.... I better go and work on the bathroom now...... N2TRUX will explain.....
