do you think buddy buckets sit too high in the cab?
I am thinking about making my buddy bucket seats power seats. I took a 1966 6 way Cadillac power seat and took out the forward and backward motor and it is almost identical to the stock sliders in height. only thing is with the gear on the track the seat will sit 1" higher. This will be completely reversible if I needed to go back to stock sliders. Just checking to see how many of you think this increase is too much. I have tilt and telescopic so the wheel shouldn't be a problem. here is a picture of the frame that shows a stock slider on the right and the power track on the left. if I do this both sides will be power so the seats will be even. I am 5'10" so my head is nowhere near the roof. tell me what you think.

I think it'll be fine. I'm 6'6" and I have no head clearance issues with my buddy buckets

Re: do you think buddy buckets sit too high in the cab?
The issues you might run into are the tilt towers are taller and the control cables fail/twist from not being lubed correctly also the "transmissions" that all the cables mount to usually have to be rebuilt at the very least because the 50 year old grease has become hard as rocks and will strip the pot metal gears and some where made of a plastic composite and re extremily hard to find replacements today .,also the 6 position switches fail from overheating when adjusting the seat with weight on it like when your sitting in them ? Use extra heavy power + and really solid grounds - if you decide to try this mod .

Re: do you think buddy buckets sit too high in the cab?
I have a power motor from a 60's caddy limo that I'm going to use since it it a 2 way motor like the first pic. I don't want 6 way lIke the secondo pic. I only want the seat to move forward and backward like stock buddys. This Will all get cleaned and re-lubed properly.

I don't think the seat will be too high. I've had foam added to factory seats. I am 5'10" and have plenty of head room. If I put power seat adjusters in my truck the motor would never burn out. My set stays set all the way back and never gets moved.

Power seats would be used once to put the seat as far back as it would go. All my trucks are set this way. Im 6'2", my wife is 5'10", she never moves it either.

Re: do you think buddy buckets sit too high in the cab?
The later buckets sit high with new foam. I'm in the process of swapping a window to lose the top tint since that's all I can see. Not sure if the BB version sits any higher/lower though.
