no, they did not. got a link or pic? Cheyenne super? Was it an original or resto or mod? Do tell. I wouldn't equate BJ with reality though - anybody with money to burn can buy cool - and at least the buyer spent it on a k10 and not a, well... Anything else!

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

I posted the wrong truck originally. I deleted that post. This is the correct truck...

Lot #72.1 - Absolutely gorgeous 1972 Chevrolet K/10 Short Box. Wearing custom deluxe trim with beautiful black and white exterior, this truck is a real head turner. This truck was a very nice truck to start out with, wearing all factory sheet metal, using excellent original, GM-licensed re-production and NOS parts to complete the build. This truck has been restored to the highest quality. The body has been completely stripped of its original paint and re-worked to create a mirror finish in the Martin Senour paint it currently wears. It features all new trim, houndstooth seat covers, 8,000 rpm dash tachometer and chrome grille surround. It also has a 4-core radiator, oak floor bed with stainless strips, windshield, tinted sliding rear window and Show Quality U.S. plated chrome bumpers. It rides on 31x10.5" Nexen tires mounted on 15x8" GM Rally rims. The drivetrain consists of a GM Performance Parts HO 350/330hp crate motor, rebuilt TH350 transmission and 3.31 ratio axles. The oak floor has been stained and varnished with six coats of Marine Spar varnish and looks amazing. All the trim on this truck has been meticulously lined up and placed to be very straight. All of the panels line up and have nice gaps. The exhaust consists of the original Ram Horn style manifolds with Flowmaster mufflers and the tailpipes dump out behind the rear wheel.

Sold for $80,000, seems like a fair price

I like that truck. I always think of 33 inch tires on 4x4, but that thing looks great.

At least they didn't claim that it was an all-original truck. It looks like a nice build, but $39,000 is a lot of change. That would definitely put it out of my price range.

Hey it's barret Jackson. Quite possibly one of the biggest pissing matches in the world.

It's a popular truck in a popular configuration on the opening day.

Would any regular Joe who eats and breathes these pay that for it heck no. But someone with money who has to have one its supply and demand.

Saw it go through the auction replay tonight. No Ac, was a custom deluxe with a houndstooth seat cover. Phone bidder won. Website shows $42k with buyer premium.

Consigner was probably thrilled with bidders. There is a seat for everyone. I like building them better than buying them.

I like watching Barrett Jackson but I put no value on the numbers that any vehicle brings when it sells there. Like another poster said, big pissin match between a bunch of people with a lot of money that don't want to go home empty handed...

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

There have been these trucks sold for that kind of money that were totally worth that much. What happens is some buy-in newbie uneducated or experienced with these trucks sees that price and thinks any shiny restored truck is worth that much. In this world a person can have a lot of money without a lot of sense. When you have plenty, money is easy to spend without a lot of thought. When every dollar matters you put thought into every dime you spend, and it had to make sense!

Very nice truck that came close to being way nicer had it been properly restored and not glitzed-up to be more than what it is. In the end makes it less.

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

As always is the rule, at auction a "vehicle is worth what 2 buyers are willing to pay" or right up to where the other guy drops out. These trucks are becoming more popular every year here and abroad. Real world value, No. B.J. value, right on the money.
To "most of us", 32K is a bunch of money. To the buyer who bought this one, probably not so much.
To the seller, "Good For You".

Very nice truck! The seller could have very easily LOST money at that selling price. It is very expensive to do a high end restoration.
Glad to see the market is still somewhat strong for our trucks.

Most guys lose money on full resto's when having a shop do it. Doesn't really matter what the resto cost, rarely do you get the money back. BJ isn't a good indicator of the real life market though, just over priced auction setting lol The K5 that got $32g I've seen better & more desirable K5 resto's sell for $15-20g. Just like the black '50 went for $101g & it looks like a $25g truck max lol

I've seen super nice 71-2 350s sell for 55k through BJ or similar.

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

Ok pick apart time

So the 70 blazer had 72 door panels in it

The 72 Cheyenne super 2 wd had pre 72 panels on 72 doors

And the 72 super lwb 4x4 paint was wrong on the doors the tops of the doors should have been white not to mention the interior

my quick nit pick of the trucks of day one now on to day two

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

I keep buying 67's in rebuildable stock condition ,rusty old trucks that haven't been molested or lost their stock driveline ,I even have a couple long beds for original parts one came with a short bed vin cab .The prices will continue to climb for stock trucks as they continue to be dropped /cut/restomoded and personalized .(I'm guilty myself) I've seen some rare stock specialty trucks come onto the board lately only to have the new owner talk of a body change or all the late model creature comforts their going to shove into it (it's their truck none of my business what they do to it) But they don't allow a widget for me to express my discontent The prices will continue to climb in part form the instant gratification generation and the fact that most young guys don't have the tools /equipment/time or hands on experience to completely build one themselves .Some of us old guys like them they way they came when new and part of the fun is how they drove and handled in stock configuration , You have to remember they were top of the line technically in their time drum brakes /manual steering /no air and 1 visor beauties !

Is that a fact? In my circle that is certainly not true by any stretch of the imagination....

I think the real fact is that most young guys today couldn't care less about having an old truck...and the ones that do will find a way to make it happen. The rest are happy driving a ****box, while having the latest iphone or xbox.

Re: 72 K-10 at BJ sold for $39,000

What I don't get about that truck and why it sold so high is that it isn't even anything very special. Yes, it's 4x4, yes, shortbed. Other than that? Not a high-end trim package, not original paint, not original engine, not original wheels - it's a relatively non-unique restoration filled with "NOS" and repro parts, pretty similar to hundreds of other shortbed 4x4 restos out there. I could see it going for ridiculous money if it were an all-original 4x4 shortbed Super, or a crazy resto-mod with all the modern electronica built into the classic shell. But as is, it seems like whoever bought it just didn't have any idea what they were buying. I guess I've been there before - but then again, I didn't spend $40k on it either!

But if you look at what the others sold for in comparison its not too far out of line. The other 4x4 sure it was a super but the paint was wrong on it and it was a long bed and it still brought what over 30k? Same with the blazer nothing special big $$

economy is improved some and some people just like what they see and buy it no matter what the cost

at the same time I am glad I have my truck before all the remote jockeys start trying to double their asking price after this weekend
