Forgot to mention it was a 350. I was leaving school and forgot to say that

In 68 our trucks didn't come with a 350. I have a 283 two barrell air cleaner if you like a pic.

I was in a super big hurry in traffic, trying not to post and drive. It's a 69, not a 68.

Can a mod change the title for me please?

Don't look at anything but the air cleaner. This is the day I got it from a PO who didn't know what they were doing. It is a 68 with a 1974 350 in it.

Visible problems in this pic:

Terrible and unsafe household wiring job.
Positive colored cable grounded to block.
Rubber fuel line

Re: 68 correct air cleaner setup

If I recall correctly, in 1969 the emissions present depended upon the GVWR (1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton). If so, the air cleaner may have varied based on emissions. Here's a picture of the original on my 69 C20 made at Fremont and sold to me new in California. The only emissions present are a PCV and breather routed to the collar the air cleaner is mounted on.

Yours looks like mine except the snorkel appears shorter with a larger, more oval "mouth". I have always thought mine was too restrictive with the opening being no bigger than the exhaust. Maybe they wised up during the year. Possibly a supplier difference or camera angle also.

So what exactly do you have? Is it a C10, C20, Chevy, or G.M.C?

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

It looks like your engine is completely stock except for the fact that the nose of your breather is missing. Just would need to find one.

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

Its from Janesville. Does the nose just slip on? I assumed someone had cut it off

No. The entire snorkel is welded onto the air cleaner base.

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

If you have identical exhaust manifolds that don't show a portion where a hose can connect to then you most likely have the same one as ours. I also am looking really close at the image of the engine. It appears that yours was cut short by the previous owner.

My 350 I put back to almost all original. The intake, carb, fuel line and a few other little things have been changed

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

My 72 has the heat stove and pipe. The 69 does not. So I'm guessing someone cut it for better airflow. Thanks for all the help guys. Just gonna have to hunt for a "new" 69 air cleaner

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

I have a 69 GMC K10 from Fremont and it has the same air cleaner as FirstOwner69's picture. No heat riser no dashpot.

Re: 69 correct air cleaner setup

I can only assume that this one is the same also. No heat stove or tube is probably factory correct on this truck also.
