Removing Heater Question
After I saw the other thread on the mouse nest in the heater I decided to pull my heater out and clean it. I got all the bolts out but it would appear I have to take the hood off the clear the blower motor assy end--is that correct? It moves around no problem but is hung up on that end by the hinge.
Also, do they make the duct which presses against the firewall? Thanks, Dave |

Re: Removing Heater Question
Removing the hood is best but some have propped up the hood and pulled the hinge, i wouldn't do that myself. There is suppose to be a bolt that requires pulling the inner fender well too i believe.

Re: Removing Heater Question
Thanks, I was able to get the nut on the bottom without pulling the inner fender luckily--getting it back on is another challenge.... Will pull the hood.

Re: Removing Heater Question
I just changed my blower motor. pulled the bolts that hold hood to inner fender on the one side. did not remove hood. I pulled the diverter box out of cab. then I took my leaf blower inserted it in hole where blower motor goes . had to clean interior when I got through but heater works good now. remove any large pieces of mouse nest before using blower to cut down the mess.

Re: Removing Heater Question
When I removed mine, I removed all of the hinge (next to the heater box) to fender bolts except one. (The one farthest from the fire wall, loosen it a little) Then I rotated the hinge upward / counter clockwize enough to let the heater box clear.

Re: Removing Heater Question
Will give that a go probably. Would do the in situ cleaning but you can get a whiff of mouse when around it so best to clean it good me thinks.

Re: Removing Heater Question
Yea you want to clean the inside pretty good to help eliminate the mouse smell. I bead blast and clear coat the inside when I restore the boxes but you could get away with washing it with soup and water then leading it dry out.
