My new Highlander & questions
I just got this Highlander off of E-Bay sight unseen-pictures and description only and it needs a bit of work but was well worth what I paid. The seller did not realize it was a Highlander until I told him. I'm happy with it. It was originally avocado and was repainted and reupholstered a few years ago in hugger orange. Someday I'll repaint her but I'll probably keep it Orange-I like it. My question is about the lower molding not being there. Could you get a Highlander with the upper molding only? I've included the SPID. Thanks

Re: My new Highlander & questions
Yes. I had a LWB 3/4 ton Highlander with upper trim only. My SWB Highlander has upper and lower.

Re: My new Highlander & questions
I believe the upper moulding only was standard with a Highlander. if you are not aware of the attached thread it should answer all your Highlander questions and don't forget to post up pics of your truck and spid label.

Here is what the inside of your truck looked like when new.

Re: My new Highlander & questions
Does your SPID read: "PROMO. PAC. C"? I see it has AC-Wish mine did.... I like the green, but Really like the Orange. I think mine will stay orange-never plan on selling it! Thanks for the pictures. Beautiful truck!

Re: My new Highlander & questions
Here is my Spid pic. My Highlander is a non-Promo Package truck. The lower moulding, cargo light, auxiliary rear spring, front stabilizer bar, 3:73 rear end ratio and gauge package as well as the A/C were add on options. The truck was sold new on July 6th 1972 at a small dealership in Kansas right at the tail end of the model year and the end of the 67-72 era. To me the way this truck was optioned seems like it was special ordered and I agree if the original purchaser wanted A/C why not go for the YG8 Package for a few bucks more which also would have added the bigger mirrors and tilt to the truck. The other scenario is that it was ordered for dealer stock inventory before the Highlander Promo Packages were offered and sat on the dealers lot for 6 or 8 months before being sold.

Re: My new Highlander & questions
With my SPID just reading-"504 medium olive" would that indicate that it was originally one color-no 2-tone?

Re: My new Highlander & questions
Nice truck! I'd be inclined to put an orange plaid seat over in it.
