reviving a farm fresh 1936 1/2 ton

Update its here everyone check it out. we fired it up today and there looks like hope for the old 206

Ok so I have been a car guy forever now and usually play with the 67-72 but love the older stuff. I got a call the other day asking if I was interested in taking on a 1936 all original pickup to bring back to life for this years car show season. I will be picking up the truck at the end of the month after I finish a few projects I have here now. the 206 was frozen but the owner freed it up after a lot of soaking. he says he has 90psi on all but one cylinder and it has 45. first thing will be to get the old 206 fired off and see if it still has any life left in it. If not he has a good running 216 on standby. I know the 216 is shorter and I need a different bell housing but i will take this al one step at a time. I cant wait to get this baby back on the road. So far he has had the gas tank carb starter and fuel pump rebuilt so its ready for a first fire when i get it here. then starts the long journey through the brake system a new harness obviously the drivetrain and an exhaust. once all that is done there will be steps later like some welding on the bed and new wood and it will need a new windshield seal. wish me luck i am so excited. i will get pics of it when i pick it up.

it will be with me at the end of the month. I have a few cars to wrap up here and my main truck 1993 cummins just sprung a huge oil leak today. so sometime by march 1st it will be here and I will have pics as soon as it shows up so stay tuned.

High cab or low cab, they changed body in Mid year 1936? They white one is my Low cab, the blue is a High cab from the H.A.M.B.

pretty sure its a low cab with the pop out front window and short backglass.

Thot 3 hinges on each door is a high cab, however am only familiar with 39-46's.

Here's a 42 I just finished --rod. Working on a 46 now.

cab is rock solid. its unbelievable you can eat off the door bottoms. it is truly astonishing. he wants to drive it as is this year but next year or the year after he wants to blow it apart and have it painted. this will be a gorgeous truck when its done. I cant wait to get done doing the mechanical revival so I can drive it.

I am doing all the repairs for someone. a neighbor of mine got me the lead they are in the same car club and he was looking for someone to take it on and get it on the road for the show season. it will be a patina find this year and come fall we will see what happens next. the 206 may come out and get sent out for a full rebuild as it was seized but we got it running and it runs so smooth but smokes from stuck rings. and with the whole babbit bearing thing I figured it needs to be sent out. so this winter may be just the motor but he does want it to be as close to original as possible. there will be NO hot rodding of this one. lol.

Glad they'll be no hod roddin this boy!. You might want to put the OE engine aside and try to find a full pressure 235, or better yet a 261. Believe me, Jersey farms got em!

What a cool old truck. Where was it hiding? Must have been in dry storage for many years.

it came out of a barn in Missouri. so far I have the motor on the floor and am resealing and painting it. also installing a new clutch. cleaned out about 2 inches of sludge in the oil pan. it was crazy. it will smoke a bit for sure but he will drive it and see if the rings loosen. if not then in the fall the motor comes out and gets sent out to be rebuilt. I also am doing a full brake rebuild on everything a new harness front to back new wood cab floors, king pins and a few other things. now here is the kicker. I am leaving my girl and will be moving in 6 weeks. wish me luck guys because this has to be done and road worthy before I go. I am a gluten for punishment. I also have a few other jobs to do and pack my ****. fun begins now.
