Vin id plate on 1956 3100?

Is this the Vin plate on the forward driver door jam? If it is, is the number usually found at the bottom? What would be the best way to clean it up to find it. I already have the stamped numbers from the frame, i just want to verify the cab.

no. it should be on the upper pillar , a 1x2.5" stainless plate

No, the vin is on a separate tag in the top of the door opening - at least it is on my 57 3100. That tag has GVW and some other info but no vin number.

ha! wow, i guess im blind! I found it, right where it should be. I guess i didnt look high enough or it just blended in with all the rust! ok so new question. Ive seen the vin decoder for the truck. But on this tag is has 6 additional numbers above the vin. C56-331. What is the meaning, anything?

I am curious about the 6 digits that are stamped above the vin number on the plate also. I have a 57 3600 with a C57-xxx (don't remember the last 3 numbers) stamped above the vin number and have never been able to figure out the origin or meaning of that number. Anyone with any knowledge of this would be helpful.
