6.0 ls swap in a 69 c10 exhaust suggestions
I am looking for suggestions on exhaust for my new 6.0 swap in my 69 c10. It has the Hedman mid length headers. I was thinking about 3" system. What have you used on your trucks? Mufflers, pipe size, x pipe or any other combo. Also what should I expect to pay? Mild steel and stainless. Thanks in advance.

I have taken 3 trucks to the muffler shop I go to within the last 3 or 4 years. The '71 4x4 pickup, the '69 Suburban, and the '67 Panel Truck. Duals on all 3 with aluminized 2 1/2" pipe & 40 knockoffs. All 3 were $250 bucks each out the door. I would say you were taken advantage of on yours.... LockDoc

2.5" with crossover and SS 50 series flows with the '68/5.3
sounds good while leaving a stop light or getting on it, but quiet while cruising I have 50 series on my two other trucks as well. Not the prettiest mufflers but I like the sound

Thanks guys. Mine will probably be more complicated due to all the suspension mods.

Re: 6.0 ls swap in a 69 c10 exhaust suggestions
I used the Hooker manifolds and their down pipes. Those were like $370 for the manifolds and $100 for the down pipes. Then I had 2.5 ran out back just like Andy's with Flowmaster 40s. Paid $415 for the exhaust work.

Re: 6.0 ls swap in a 69 c10 exhaust suggestions
A good mandrel-bent system with an X-pipe and some 18" case Pypes Race pro mufflers sound awesome. Tailpipes will tame the sound inside the cab, but will be a touch louder outside.
Something like that will be 5-6 hours labor @ around $50-80 per hour. This will be the best as far as fitment and power, but not the cheapest. I will always spring the money for something like this over the typical muffler shop job. Even an only half decent, pinch-bent exhaust by the muffler shop down the street is within $100 of the option above. |
