WTB: 1971 AC Diverter Solenoid/Fitting (?)
Anyone got one of these to sell in operational condition? Sorry, don't know what to call it. It bolts on to the exterior of the AC diverter/flapper box. The part in question is the gold-colored doohickey shown in the picture.
BTW, if you are considering buying a diverter from GM Parts Direct run the other way quick. |

That is called the a/c compressor switch, we can supply that in GM NOS for $65. or OE used/tested for $25., they do also offer this switch in repro but we do not stock it. Let me know and we can get some pics, Mel.

Thanks Roger, I have a replacement box and just needed the compressor switch. I appreciate your reply and will be coming back to you for other things I am sure.

Re: WTB: 1971 AC Diverter Solenoid/Fitting (?)
I was hoping you would ask as I have been following your GMPD saga. My experience was quite similar. The diverter box I received was functional but the metal fittings were rusted just like yours. Mine wasn't cracked but it looked like a takeoff, return or factory 2nd with bad scrapes in the plastic (see pics). And whoever runs their customer service operation really needs to find another line of work. When you call their 800 # a chirpy recording suggests that you call back during their normal business hours (even if you are doing so), or their voice mailbox is full. In other words, you bought it, you own it. Like you I will have to cut my losses and sell it at a discount in order to recover some of my $$s.
The good news is that I have bought so many parts for my truck that I forgot that I already had a 1st rate replacement unit from Classic Heartbeat. Double DOH! |

Re: WTB: 1971 AC Diverter Solenoid/Fitting (?)
I'll second that.
The vendor that was making these for GM at one time was painting the brkts gray. Presumably as a cost reduction measure, that practice stopped, along with placing this item in a sealed box. The last several diverter ducts I purchased from GM a few years ago, had surface rust on the brkts, no box and a couple scratches on it. However, that being said, I was glad it was still being made, as every used one I've encountered was broken. |

GM Parts Direct Insult wouldn't return any of my calls or emails. I did receive a full refund however, thanks to PayPal. On a side note, there's nothing "direct" about GM Parts Direct. At least not where my diverter box was concerned. The part was shipped from another business, meaning GM Parts Indirect act as front end, or whateva.

Yes, short delay in response was due to me getting one pulled out and some pics snapped, whether you needed them or not its just the way we like to do business. The NOS compressor switch will ship USPS priority (small box) for $6.80, payment can be sent via paypal, U.S. postal moneyorder or credit card over the phone, let us know your preferred method and we will get you the correct info for making payment. Thank you, Mel.
