Reproduction Tailgates

66 Fleetside tailgate needs replacing and I need some help on quality. Who sells the best one, or all they all made by the same mfg'r? One I saw is GM approved and is the quality better or just more bucks?
Thanks for the help!
Doug

I might be wrong but the fleetside 58-66 tailgate from Mar-K is stamped with the stepside script and doesn't use the factory chains. They have their own hinge/latch system. Would be okay for the custom guys I guess.

If they do, it's well hidden. I looked at their site yesterday and all they list is 4 different versions of their custom tailgate.

Re: Reproduction Tailgates

I just bought a front bed panel from Classic Parts of America (formerly Chevy-duty) and the quality was spot on. I was surprised to find that it was just as heavy, if not a little more, than the original. It was made from the same gauge steel as the original and fit great. I am very impressed. I know they sell OEM replacement tailgates too with the chain tabs and they use the right press-out for the lettering. The price is right too!!
