700r4 swap driveshaft questions

Hey, I just picked up a 700r4 thats going to replace my th350 thats in 67 shortbed. I dont wanna cut and shorten my drive shaft i have in it now. I was wondering if anybody knows what vehicle has a driveshaft that is the right length to bolt in with the 700r4 without haveing to be cut. I would rather go pick up driveshaft that will fit from a junkyard, instead of shortining my existing one. Thanks

Re: 700r4 swap driveshaft questions

Got my driveshaft from a 1969 Chevelle 396 4speed. It was a direct bolt in.

Re: 700r4 swap driveshaft questions

I did this swap on my 72 about a year ago. You'll love it. I did have mine shortened and had the ujoints replaced and balanced for about $150.

Money well spent.

Re: 700r4 swap driveshaft questions

I used one out of a mid 80s caprice. I think I had to change the rear universal. That was over ten years ago and it is still working fine for the guy that bought it.
