Re: working on my heater
Mine was missing too, ended up just buying one from The Truck and Car Shop in Orange CA, for 20-something bucks, for no other reason than I was buying some other stuff from them. It is like a ball shape, I think originally they were more of a barrel shape, but the GM replacement was the ball like the car version. Works, bolted right on. Any of the places that carry replacement parts for our trucks will have them.

Regarding the vacuum canister, I've seen both the coffee can metal version (as original on my 69) and the plastic ball on these trucks. The ball type appears to have been used exclusively during the later years of this generation trucks. From pictures posted here, I'd say the ball canister is most common overall. |

My truck is missing it as well. What does it do? Mines an ac cab it's missing everything. My heater works but hot air always blows in. Sorry if I just hijacked the thread

Re: working on my heater
Lol . no problem all threads are here for the taking. The Reservoir canister is for opening your side vents and I'm not sure what else. I just took all my duct work apart and found a massive mouse nest.

Re: working on my heater
My heater works great. All vents work. But it just always has hot air blowing in its weird and very annoying in the summer

Re: working on my heater
Had the same problem on an AC truck I used to have. On the factory AC trucks there is a vacuum water valve on the supply heater hose to the heater core off the water pump. Since my ac was non working and partially disassembled I put a manual 1/4 turn valve in the place of the vacuum valve. In the summer close the valve, in the winter open it up. I was a quick fix, but sure helped in the summer at 100+

Re: working on my heater
Here's a pic of mine that I just got finished refurbing. The vac ball has the attaching bracket attached to it and bolts to the evap case. I put a new vac water valve into the water line and still get hot air. I installed a valve in the hose and will close off the water int the summer to the heater core
