3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
I got a frame to swap going to shorten it and paint it. pretty much just transfer all the porterbuilt stuff to this quarter ton frame. is there any difference between the two.? are they pretty much the same? half ton vs quarter ton?

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
Yeah, same frame, the 3/4 tons used a different rear cab mount. You will want to replace those with the 1/2 ton ones.

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
I don't know what a waive is and where is the crack. cracks can be repaired . your going to cut and shorten the other so that involves welding. it is just that you change your frame registration when you change your frames and that changes legalities with your vehicle.

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
The bottom of the frames waives in and out or up and down from maybe lifting it with the jack.
Now the Crack is on the bottom of the C. Or as the frame bends up its cracked there. I had a few incidents. Blown lines on my air Suspension and slammed hard on the freeway. |

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
What about the 60-62 x-frame....
Is there any difference between the 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton?

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
Don稚 mean to highjack but since this is a similar question. I知 using a 65 C10 frame and the cab came from a 3/4 or 1 ton. It sounds like I値l have to relocate the rear body mounts but any other issues I知 going to run into? Frame just got finished at the blast shop, hoping to pickup tomorrow.

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
Not that I am aware of, but then again I am not real familiar with the '60-'62 frames.

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
The '63-'66 C10,20 and 30 cabs are all the same and interchangeable. The rear cab mount location is the same. It is the rear cab mount on the frame that is different than on a C10.[/QUOTE]
So I should be able to cut off my mount on the frame and weld it into the position needed?

It's the 63-66 C20 frames that have a different rear cab mount. I'll see if I can find the thread, but the 63-66 C20 frame has an interesting vulcanized rubber mount that was probably used to help with the stiffer ride of the C20.

Re: 3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 frame
Here are the C20 rear cab mounts that would have originally been riveted to the C20 frame.
https://www.steelerubber.com/cab-mou...ice-70-2212-48 I'm still searching more more that I'll post.
