"72 swb "on the fence"

Just picked up this 72 a few weeks ago after seeing it for the 1st time last June. It was a local 3 owner that was bought new in west TN. It migrated the 70 or so miles to my area and accumulated 102,xxx total miles. Some how it never was wrecked in all this time and still retains its original paint, seat covers,[albeit the houndstooth inserts will need replacing]. I had to put a windshield in it and get rid of those nasty looking wheels. The look did not do it for me. The only addition so far to the original truck is a GM goodwrench 350 replaced the old one at 66,xxx miles. Some one painted the inner fenders body color, I guess , when they changed the eng. They just didn't bother painting the 350. Here is the on the fence part. I'm torn on how far to take it. As it is right now, it is a fun cruiser, stock. smooth truck. I dig the weathered look that only time can do. It could use rockers and corners like most of them, but then all the paint wouldn't be original. Yall take a look and let me hear some opinions. Thanks for putting up with me, been watching dozens of your build threads for a long time. First pic is how it looked when I bought it. Then as the month has wore on.

That's a real nice truck. Looks much better with the rally wheels. Based on your pics, the ONLY thing I'd change is the rear bumper. I'd go with the smaller stock chrome one.

Enjoy the truck !!

Re: "72 swb "on the fence"

I'm with you on the bumper. Had a 66 SWB years ago and the bright work was good to great. Bought a new back bumper , [repop], and it stuck out like a sore thumb. It forced me to replace most all my trim. I also have a Scotty Sportsman that I pull with my 55, so I have to have a hitch on this truck so I can pull it with it too. Soooo... I guess that means a hidden hitch and then, that may make it tough to put a spare in the stock location. Believe me, when I get it all sorted out, the step bumper is history. Thanks, by the way, for the compliments.

Very Nice truck!
I would freshen up the cosmetics under the hood and the interior,... and leave the rest alone.
If you add rockers, I would try to paint them to match the paint that is on it now,...
(flat clear,... not gloss)

Re: "72 swb "on the fence"

I think you should just sell it to me!!! No seriously, it looks cool the way it is or a good candidate to take to the next level, it would be a hard decision to make.

Nope, no need for any more upgrades. Send it to Frankfort KY to me and I will handle all the other work. One, if not my favorite color combo's. Nice truck man.
