Big Knock in enigine Bottom end?????
My buddies truck just broke down!! He is in the dark ages so I thought I'd ask the pro's for him! Just wondering if any one has any idea what the problem could be????? The moter blew a gasket and spit the oil out on the highway. The motor still runs fine, but makes a loud Knock Knock Knock Knock !!!!!!!Knock!!!
Any Ideas??

sounds like he spun a main bearing and it's worn into the crank. This causes the connecting rod to knock against the crank since it's loose now.
Just my guess

It knocks at idle and when you drive it! We drove it home about 15miles and nothing changed same knock while it's running!

It won't be long before he finds the problem...it will be sticking out of the side of the block

Either look for another engine or tear it down now. If you keep running it - it won't be for long.

Stick a fork in it it's done! All he's doing now is circulationg bearing material throughout the block. Park and rebuild!

It will need a crank for sure, and if it is a main that spun, the block will be toast as well. I wouldn't get my hopes up until I determined the source. It may need to be completely replaced....HHHmmm good time for a ZZ4???!
