HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

Back home after 8 weeks of training today.....

After unpacking I went to the garage to see if my new to me door fitted the cab.

Part of the trick is hanging it singlehandedly, easy.

Then I did check that the internal door handle could release the latch.

Great fit.......

OK.... So now I can open it again and remove it as it is a good fit.......

BO11OX !!!!!!!!!!!

BUGGERR !!!!

Door won't release, despite inner handle obviously working.

What have I done wrong??

How am I going to get this door out the hole then, without resorting to my trusty 9" angle grinder ??

HEEEEEEELLLLP !!

This is the fit.

I need to start stripping the trucks original door down.

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

You may be should able to reach your finger or a screwdriver into the hole on the outside of the door and push the release mechanism. Another option would be to remove the inner door panel and reach inside to pull the release.

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

Does it seem like it is just jammed in the frame. I would try some brute force from the inside. or maybe a sideways bottle jack and a 2X4 cut to the proper length.

Might also try unbolting the hinges. That might loosen things up.

loosen the hinge bolts that go into the cowl .
this may be enough to let the latch release when you use the handle to unlatch it .

Thanks for the Replies guys.

I will go take a look in the morning. 22.30 here now.

I cannot remember which way the hinge bolts sit.

Yes, finger fits in, completely pushes in, but the door does not release to open.

Not jammed, rather stuck at the latch.

I think handle down and push force from yhe inside may do it.....fingers crossed.

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

Rian,

Loosen the door hinges.

And when you put it back on either remove the door latch from the b pillar or loosen the bolts.

If you can get an assistant try lifting the door at the same time as getting your assistant to push against the door.

Or make sure it is unlocked!

If you need help I might be available Sunday for an hour or two.

Had the same exact thing happen to me just a few weeks ago. I tried most of the above suggestions and that still didn't work. Had to have a buddy sit inside the cab and put a large screwdriver between the door and rocker and push and twist while I pulled up. Got it open...be aware that it will bend the seal lip but it straightens back out

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

It looks like the door is latched in to far. Did you remove the rubber bumper that goes in the jam? On our 65 chevy I removed the rubber bumper and the door latches in to far and felt like the door was locked but ended up just having to really pull on it to get it open.

1/4 stick of 20% stumping powder in the middle of the cab.

Put the cab in the hot sun and wipe the door down with rags soaked in ice water?

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

I had a similiar situation, fitting the door and it got stuck. Unbolting hinges didn't help me, but extra arms did.

Try to work a strong wire through the crack below the latch and have someone inside to support that side of the wire, with you on the outside and a third person just to wiggle and support the door.

Work the wire upwards and wiggle the door at the same time. Mine came loose.

Good luck

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

Stick a screw driver in the rear door gap and just add a little pressure, it will pop open. It's just stuck. Don't close it like that again !

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

I've had this happen several times when fitting my doors without the weatherstrip in place. You have to pull the door with both hands really hard outwards and the door will pop out a 1/4" or so and aligned with the body. Then you can press the button to open the door.

I've also had this happen with weatherstrip off of the door. What I did was have a buddy operate the door handle and pull while I pressed the door up at the top of the window seal. Opened right up

Nope, double checked that twice as door handle is on inside.

Thanks Paul, got a plan formulating.

Have large screwdriver next to cab already, it is plan B and agreed, steel does bend right back

Yes, I think there will be some force used later today.

More likely me that will need the ice and wiping down

Not going the wire route yet, but suspect a finger on the inner latch mechanism and some size 11 shoes may come into play.

Agree, it is stuck, it's just about using the least destructive force.

I suspect the latch will end up in a bucket once I get it all undone

Weatherstrip is the problem, it allows everything to go in deeper than planned.

Sooooooo......

This what I did try, but my force onto the inside of the door, while poking my finger in the hole to release just was not enough.

In times like these I would call Nicola down to push or pull......

BUT....

When I came home last night I bundled all my laundry into the washing machine, mixed colours.... Errrrmmm..?

If I had hung it all out before she came back from work she would not have been bothered, but she found the load finished but not removed.... So the opening line when I came into the house to find her cleaning cat vomit from a carpet, was "Do you really do this to P1SS me off?" Followed by a ****e mood for the next three hours.

So asking for help may have seen me with a meat cleaver in the skull.

I will give Nickey next door a shout later to take on the poking part of the job while I kick it open.

Re: HELP !! My door stuck in cab...... Take a look please.

N Boer maak n plan.......... Go ask Google translate to turn it into Afrikaans.

Thought I would post up the result on here as well, in case anyone else has the same problem.

Bolstered by the knowledge I had and multiple replies overnight, I went to the garage this morning to sort out this door latch issue.

Firstly found a 3" bit of kindling, pushed it into the hole from outside, added Ductape to keep in position, then added a steel spatula with a bit more Ductape....... Then went around the other side and climbed into the cab.

Onto my backside, foot against the door right over the lock and latch, 2" run up and firm thrust and it popped open.

Next job is to strip down door and remove all the hardware that has to be built into the grey replacement shell.

But coffee and biccies first, then back down there.

Got a garage 3/4 day as Nicola is with a friend in need today.

Woooohooo !!
