GM Auxillary Step Unit
I'm posting this to clear up some confusion on an old post that was dug up earlier and now closed. These parts are NOT for sale, just for reference. These are the GM part #994454 "auxiliary step unit" The GM bedside pocket step is #986838
There was also an entry step that attached to the door and slid out of a framework under the rocker as you opened the door, I've seen pics but never been able to find any. Not trying to step on any toes but there was some interest in what they look like and I love seeing all the cool old ad-ons and dealer accessories of this time.

Re: GM Auxillary Step Unit
Well nuts into the rocker and unsupported screen along the inboard edge. Wonder what the service life was like? Still interesting to see. Thanks for posting the pics.

Re: GM Auxillary Step Unit
Thanks for setting this straight. I never looked up the number, but responded in that old thread to the side step they were talking about. The aux. step I don't recall ever seeing on a truck. Probably saw them in the '70s and never paid any attention, because I never liked steps hanging off of 4wds. 'If you can't climb in as it is you shouldn't be driving it', was probably what I would have said Remember when it was really something to know someone with a 4wd, or own one? I used to wonder why everyone else didn't drive them. Don't wonder that anymore
