c10 4x4?
This is probably a dumb question but I saw a c10 4wd truck for sale and was wondering how it could be. Doesn't the K = 4x4 and C=conventional. Is there some aftermarket 4wd options or something?
Thanks http://adcache.collectorcartraderonl...2/55802502.htm |

Hi welcome to the board
Alot of people take the 2wd trucks a make them in to 4x4's.You are correct a factory 4x4 will have the K in the VIN#.I have seen a few real 4x4's listed as c-10 or c-20.Some people may not really know, but alot of the ones I see are converted from 2wd. I,ve been looking for a nice factory 4x4 for awhile and probably seen many converted as real ones Ray

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even factory 4x4s got "C10" badges on the fenders so this truck in question could very well be a factory 4x4.

Welcome frome Texas This is not a dumb question at all. Another item that I noticed on the ad is the owner refers to the truck as being a CST. This was a Trim level for these trucks like Custom or Cheyyene. I don't think this was an option package for the 72 model trucks even though it may have been for the Blazers. A lot of folkes will refer to the cst as Custom Short Truck rather than a trim level. Before considering a purchase request the Vin and Glove box option sheet and do ask the owner or seller if he has the knowledge if it is a conversion. A converted truck can be as good a buy or better than an original if it is done correctly. The value won't be there for the purist due to the limited production numbers on this model. You will see all types of conversions, pieced together and upgraded trucks for these models. There will almost always be clues that give them away. Another item to be careful of is the known problem areas like cracked frames at the steering box mount which is usually hidden unless you know what to look for. Keep the questions coming and as always: Have fun

My '69 has C/10 badges on it. There is no such thing as a K/10 badge. Of course, the blazers got a K/5 badge, even the two wheel drive ones.

Hmmm...my '69 GMC doesn't have 4 wheel drive emblems under the front marker lights, the side emblems just say "2500 V-Eight", and the VIN starts with a K so I call it a K/2500. THe 4 wheel drive emblems may be chev only? i am not sure.
member Yukon jack's '69 K/20 wears original looking C/20 badges on the fenders.

My 70 GMC has the "4 wheel drive" emblems under the front marker lights, but my front marker lights came from a 72 Chevy.
