What a mess PO left me with
I hate what the previous owner did to this truck. He filled in every seam on the truck even the gas tank filler neck.I am smelling raw gas in the cab and I think I may have a leaking tank.I will have to cut out the bondo around filler neck to get tank out and the bondo goes way past what a rubber gromlett will cover.I would never do this to a truck.

We love challenges but we don't complain in front of wives --haha.

I'd try hard to "know" before pulling that apart. Get up in there with an inspection mirror or a little handheld video and see. If its a 70 or later it might just be a missing or rotted evap/vent hose.

Re: What a mess PO left me with
It still might have a later tank in there. Worth taking a look. But the rigid mounting of the neck like that may have loosened it too.

Re: What a mess PO left me with
as we say in the public school system.....some peoples kids. Yea, that demonstrates unusual taste in truck customising. I think I saw it for sale on ebay... 25k or best offer.
I always shudder to think what some people do to these trucks. Others will claim that it increases the value of the fewer and fewer remaining trucks out there. I own two of those remaining trucks and what ever increase in value, I see as a false indicator of value. Frankly I dont want mine or anybody elses truck to increase in value simply because some tweeked out muppet ruined this truck. I simpithise with you and hope that you "restore" some dignity and grace to it. |
