CPP 500 - Better on center highway feel?

I honestly can't remember what I did with my original box during the restoration - I thought I bought an LMC direct replacement, or maybe Rock Auto, but can't find my original, so -could- still be running my old one.

Even so, the number of turns lock to lock is frustrating, but what I'm hoping to improve is the on-center highway feel.

I have 3-4 inches of dead play, I'd guess, where you drive like it's an old TV movie (back and forth with the wheel) to keep it straight. Not crazy, just like you'd expect an old 70s truck with an original box.

But is the CPP 500 box any better on the highway? I think I have one in my Camaro, but it's down at the moment.

I don't want to put the time and money in only to wonder "Well, I'm not sure if it's any different", but if it's a marked and noticeable difference, it'd be a good investment for me.

BlueC20 has one and has been helping me with parts, etc, but before I make the leap I figured I'd recruit public opinion to see if anyone else is running them and has a recollection of the stock box to compare to.

My CPP 500 series box has no play in the steering at all after getting everything buttoned up and getting the alignment done.

This is a big difference from the manual box, i had a lot of play with the manual steering.

The truck now feels very precise, I haven't had a chance to take it on the highway yet 60+ mph, just the normal 40 mph roads due to my truck being down due to electrical issues at the moment.

I will report back when I get it on the road soon.

Thanks! I do have a stretch of several miles of road that I take regularly that's 2-lane 55mph so I need the truck to be safe and "on its game" for that stretch.
