What Exhaust?

Well the stars aligned last weekend and I was finally able to get the truck back to running condition. Now it's time to ship it off to the local exhaust shop to connect to the new headers & wondering what everyone likes as far as mufflers. When I bought the truck it had dual flowmaster 40s with turn downs before the axle and was way too loud for me. I'm trying to decide between flowmaster 70 series or 50 series. If your running one of these two mufflers or have other opinions, please sing out.

Re: What Exhaust?

My 69 C10 had 2.5" Flowmaster 50 series "Delta Flow" mufflers. Even with tailpipes exiting under the rear bumper, interior resonance was very bad. I ending up using Dynomax Super Turbos with a 20" case. Still some resonance but nowhere near as bad as the Flowmasters. And they cost about half as much!

No direct experience here, but I've read that the Flowmaster 70s are much quieter than the 50s etc., but they are very expensive.

Re: What Exhaust?

Which Borla? I've been listening to the sound clips on youtube and Borla's site and I have to say they sound good. Might seriously consider them. By the way, does a larger muffler case = a quieter muffler?

I am a Borla fan. Been using Borla for 18 plus years. Borla Pro XS or I run the Borla XR1 Sportsman Muffles. Check out my video sound clips. They will get the blood pumping lol.

This setup is a dual all custom mandrel bent 3" X pipe exhaust from headers back no neck downs. I love the way the XR1 sound. 385 stroker motor.

Re: What Exhaust?

Magnaflow, more hp than Flowmasters, and produce about the same as Borla ..

Sound is subjective, I hate the way Flowmasters sound, Magnaflows I like.

Your right, that sounds awesome! Just a little too loud for my daily driver though.
