Help just found these in the rear end..
What the hell is this?? They were under the pinion down in the pocket. My pinion was making noise so I pulled it apart to rebuild it and the pinion was loose up and down. Went to set the pinion depth and it was 1/2 inch loose in and out just like it was when I pulled it apart and thats when I found these shims of some sort. Two of them are a little crunched.. Anyone know what they are or maybe my 12 bolt is some early one off?? It is a 65

Re: Help just found these in the rear end..
They look like clutch tabs from a posi that broke off. They would have been holding the friction plates in place with the carrier.

Re: Help just found these in the rear end..
That cage would be for the Dana/Spicer posi unit, not the Eaton style posi. Does your 12 bolt currently have a posi carrier in it?

They sure aren't horseshoes. Any damage to crown and pinion?
