Vent Window Glass Replacement Install ?'s
After breaking a vent window I have disassembled both doors and am replacing all felt and weatherstripping. I'm not to the point where I need to reinstall the new glass into the frame with the new "glass setting rubber" from LMC. I can't get the damn glass to fit back into the frame with the new rubber. Any suggestions?
Thanks, |

TKCR & NJ C10 Guy
Thanks for the reply! I don't have any problems with all the weather stripping or window assemblies. In the videos you referenced the Vent window assembly is complete. I broke the vent window glass and need to install the new one back into the frame. This is not covered in either video. Thanks, TB |

Oh, I gotcha. Unfortunately I can't help you with that, sorry. I'd serioulsy consider, as someone who does almost all my own work, calling a glass shop to get a quote. If it's cheap enough it might just be worth dropping it off. One of those things that if you screw up and get a leak it will annoy the hell out of you. just my .02 |

There are videos that cover that, you'll just have to search. I had Precision do mine, they can be quite contrary. When I got them back, they looked brand new.

Thanks 68 Timber.
Below is a decent Link; Even though I still haven't been successful I can see the light after this read. http://www.chevytrucks.org/tech/ventwindowrebuilt.htm If I can't get it done tomorrow morning I will be taking it to a glass shop. TB |

Re: Vent Window Glass Replacement Install ?'s
Those videos are good and I used them too but I think he's talking about fitting the vent glass into the vent frame with the rubber friction strip LMC sells. I had trouble with those too. I used a dead-blow hammer to seat the glass but I still wasn't satisfied with the fit and I was afraid they would whistle after all the effort to get them out and rebuild them. I ended up dropping them off at a glass shop. He used an adhesive in a tube instead of the rubber strip, it's like RTV but is harder when it dries.
