question on 61 motor swap

OK so I removed in line 235 putting In 350. I have 87 front crossmember and 72 motor mount stands. I have to drill top holes and add spacer. Question is should the bottom hole line up or do I drill all three. Cant seem to get anything to line up.

Drill your holes in the spacers first. Bolt the mounts to the block with the stands but don't tighten all the way just yet.

Lower the block down and put a bolt through the bottom hole in the crossmember first. Then, slide the spacer plates on the top of the frame under the mount and lower the motor down all the way.

Mark your holes on the frame rails and if you can drill in place then do that but if you can't you'll need to mark the holes for the frame and lift the engine up and out again, drill your two holes then try to line everything up as you lower the motor down.

Took me two or three tries...very frustrating.

Are you staying with a manual trans with the crossmember mounted bellhousing?

OK tried the stuff that was suggested and things still seem to be way off. Anyone else run in to this on a swap?

This crossmember is from an 85, which I think should be the same as your 87 crossmember. I've circled the ones that should be used, either the set in green or the set in red.

If your mounts are like the ones I have you should have 2 holes by on the foot that mounts to the crossmember, one for the regular position and one to mount farther back, depending on which you use will determine what hole on the crossmember you use.

OK so I think you helped me figure out my problem my mounts only have 1 hole in the foot and 2 on the top frame rail.

These are the mounts I have. I still have the original crossmember in place though so I just drilled all new holes.

Waiting on a couple parts still then I'm swapping it all over to the 85 crossmember and suspension/steering stuff.

are both of these perches of the same length. they didn't come out of a 72 that had a 292 I6 in it . passenger side perch would be shorter. this would give you trouble mounting a sbc

They were sold to me as small block mounts and they do appear to be the same length. Got tired of messing with lining up lower holes. So I measured and measured centered everything and drilled new holes looks like its all going to work out. Thanks for all the suggestions and help could not do this without the support of this group.
