Axle seals leaking
I just installed the axle in my 79 after sitting for many years. The front seal and one axle seal leaks. Can I get away with a stop leak additive? If so for how long? No problem on pulling it apart and replacing seals. But don't want to do that until this winter

Re: Axle seals leaking
1. Long distance daily driver or occasional use only?
2. A few drops on the ground or half a cup? 3. Are you ok with doing frequent pull the plug oil level checks? I see no problem with stop leak as long as you plan on seal replacement fairly soon. Think of the stop leak as a scheduling aid, not a long term fix. The seals probably hardened during the down time and cracked when the axle was returned to service. |

Re: Axle seals leaking
No drips. Just sprayed on bottom of bed. Just occasional use. Looking to get to winter and tear it down then
