I know this has been asked and answered a dozen times, cant remember and cant find it.

I know Chevy has the numbers on the frame, for some reason I have in my head GMC did not put numbers on the frame ... yes, no?

Mine was on top of the frame near the steering box.

I'm pretty sure the earlier production (67-68) gmcs were hit and miss. I know there are plenty of examples on here of those same early trucks not having spids either.

Re: Vin on frame

if its a bare frame you should be able to find the #'s on top of the driverside frame rail between the cab mounts.

or the one on top of the driverside frame rail between the steering box and motor mount.

my 67 and a bare 71 frame i have have #'s in both these locations.

Re: Vin on frame

The only ones I have seen over the years that did not have a vin on the frame were 67/68 GMC's

Re: Vin on frame

My 71 GMC has two; one by steering box, one roughly centered between cab mounts (drivers side).

Re: Vin on frame

My 1972 GMC C15 has the VIN number on the top of the frame near the power steering box. The 1969 Chevy C10 frame I have has it in the exact same place.

Re: Vin on frame

I have a 1968 GMC short bed fenderside. I found numbers stamped upside down on the driver’s side frame rail that do not even begin to translate into anything close to the VIN on the driver’s side.

Does anyone have any info on the frame numbers?

That last post should have read:
