Having trouble with 86 C20 rear lowering hangers
I had bought all the parts to lower my 1986 C20 4X2 longbed truck. I bought everything from Western Chassis. The front end piece went together without any problems, I replaced just about everything there or rebuilt. I tore the left rear apart this week to install the spring hanger, the shackle I had put on earlier.
I couldn't see the differance in the hangers when the truck was together. Once apart the hangers are two different beast. Not even close. After three days of phone calls and E-mails with pictures and measurements. I and Western Chassis seam to be at a stand still. No cross words or anything, just head scratching on there part. They say the hanger are a bolt on. So I'll show the photo's of what I have, and any idea's would be great. Thankfully I don't depend on the truck for daily use. Thanks Ken

Re: Having trouble with 86 C20 rear lowering hangers
I had hangers from Air baggit on my C20. They bolted on just fine. Just mock them up where they need to be and drill new holes.

Re: Having trouble with 86 C20 rear lowering hangers
I'm not really wanting to drill any more holes. I'm going to weld plate's onto the Hangers from Western, that will allow me to use the correct holes. I have time on this project, this is just one of the many set backs I have encountered so far. I'm still having fun with it.

Re: Having trouble with 86 C20 rear lowering hangers
After many calls and E-mails with Western on this rear hanger issue. It seams they don't make or offer a rear lowering spring hanger for a 1986 C20 4X2 Pickup. With a nonfloating rear differential and 2 1/2 inch leaf springs.
As per Western Chassis. Now they have been great with all this, and have taken care of me money wise. And I keep the hangers they sent. I'm having them reworked to fit my truck as a bolt on set. So hopefully I'll have my truck back on the ground in a few days. Ken

Re: Having trouble with 86 C20 rear lowering hangers
I have finally finished reworking the rear spring hangers. They went on without any issue's. The truck sit really nice, I'll have pictures tomorrow. I want to take them at the same spot as my before pic's so its easier to compare.
Also I need to trim the rear bed support cross beam, just in front of the rear shackle. When the truck is setting level the leaf springs are touching the bed support. How much of this cross beam do I need to remove? I would like to box it in after cutting out the correct amount. There is a gap between the front hanger and the bed. Its there just hard to see in the pictures, because of the angle. Here are photo's of the modified spring hanger. Ken
