About sand blasting media....
I have a question..... Will a fine grain sand work to take the undercoating and dirt off of my frame? My dad gave me a matco gravity feed sand blaster that he has had for years but never used. I know I will be refilling constantly but, I didn't have to buy it so it should work great for being free. lol I pulled the bed off last sunday for primer and paint, so I decided to clean up the frame while the bed is off. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't attempt doing an entire frame with a gravity feed. In general sandblasting doesn't work too well on grease. If you want to do the whole frame call up some places from the yellow pages and see how much it costs, it might be cheaper then you think. Using a gravity feed will literally take you hours upon hours.

Gee Emm is correct. A gravity feed blaster would take forever. You may be able to rent a pressure blaster at a local rental store.
I use the fine Silica number 1 sand from Meeks lumber yard. It comes in a 70lb bag at about $6/bag Oh, what kind of seats are those in your avatar?

Thanks guys.... Not what I wanted to hear but, I don't want to waste my time on it. I know someone that has heavy duty blaster at his shop, I should be able to take it up there and knock it out pretty fast. 1971stepside, I'm still not sure on what car they came out of, I picked them up cheap at a local yard. I didn't ask when I bought them b/c I felt like I was stealing them from them plus, they were still wrapped up in dealer plastic. From what I know they are either a small suv or mini van seats. Here's a bigger pic.

They look good in there and I like the seat back height on them. If you find out let me know.

Clean off the undercoating with some solvent first or you'll be there forever.
Anything like carb cleaner, brake cleaner, napth, acetone, etc, etc. Spray it on and scrap off.
