Question about an HEI conversion engine harness, 69, SBC, auto
I've had an HEI on my truck for a long time. I decided to clean up the engine and underdash wiring a bit and have plans to install a new factory style engine harness. I bought one with a built in 12v feed for the HEI. My question is, about 8-10 inches downstream where the plug for the HEI exits the harness, there is another single plug female terminal from the same 12v feed (pink wire). What is the intended purpose for this additional 12v feed? I assume I simply won't need it and can ignore it, but I just don' know why it is there. The 12v feed comes from the main bulkhead at the fuse panel so this additional plug isn't for feeding the 12v into the system.

Re: Question about an HEI conversion engine harness, 69, SBC, auto
I have only run points and never HEI; so I cannot provide details other than the attached wiring diagram from American Autowire that shows the pink wire going to the BAT location on the coil under certain circumstances.

Yes, but what that diagram doesn't show is an additional length of pink wire with yet another terminal on it. I'm assuming it is for an HEI coil that is mounted remotely and not in the cap like a stock-style HEI.
