Window channels - Perhaps I've been ripped off

Perhaps nothing, I was..............The guy said they had one pair of NOS and the rest repros. I took the "NOS". Had I known they were not in a GM package I wouldn't have blown $135 shipped. I can get "NOS" out of a bag for nearly half that price. I didn't think to confirm they were packaged (ooops), but he made it clear they were NOS. Seriously, how the heck does he know?

I realize these may harden after conforming to the frame for so long, but I wouldn't have expected "NOS" to be so flat. As far as I can tell the originals never were. They don't spread apart much along the channel, and fold right back into place as if they came that way .....Could be dirt and grease, but the originals feel much heavier than I'd have expect too.

The guy is going to hear from me regardless. They're either NOS with no bags or impostors. Any insight is appreciated. The image doesn't say much. The channel in the center is original. The not sure are on either side, one up the other down. Thanks.

Called them. They bought them from Vintage and he PROMISES they're original. Note: One did have a very small piece of what was definitely a GM bag.........Doesn't say much, but it's EVIDENCE...ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!.

They're going to take a loss if they match other "NOS -no bags" and he needs to talk to his boss. Apparently they spent $44 each as they were chasing a pair...He sounds honest (first guy sure didn't). Anyway, $40 refund or I'm sending them back. Their call pending.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the originals / NOS were also molded flat. they only take a "U" shape once they are inserted into the frame.

That's not bad news at all. I'm not completely surprised, but wow, after 45 years they really like to stay in shape.

I never understood why people py more for any nos plastic or rubber parts. even if they are nos they are 45 years old and are likely to deteriorate.

Honestly I agree as rubber is concerned...........I wasn't planning on buying any NOS rubber. I bought these anyway, for some reason. As far as deterioration, yep, that's a chance you take. Environment has some bearing.....Looking at these pieces I got, they look and feel brand new. NOS? Couldn't tell you. Lesson learned, and they haven't called back yet. I'll probably pay the post office a visit come Monday.

As for plastic, I don't know. The lenses are plastic, I don't see much going wrong with those. Shame they didn't use some "NOS bubble wrap" back in the day......Sure would have reduced shelf ware.

pretty sure they are not 45 year old parts. Gm made them for several years and were still available up to a couple of years ago. I have also purchased them from vintage in the past and if I recall the packing dates were from early 2000's.

The originals do lay flat like that. Once in stalled the pinch the glass very nice.

Actually I just checked vintage and they still had 2 more available so I just purchased them. And I can tell you they cost a lot more then $135.00 for both.

http://www.vpartsinc.com/

Vintage parts buys old stock from the dealers and then resells the parts.
I am not sure if just anybody can order from them. I think you might have to be a dealer but never hurts to check it out.

I believe this is it. They don't seem to have many of our parts.
