Help in identifying my truck!
I have a "1970" C10 SWB step side (by the registration code, anyway). I have been convinced by folks on this site as well those I've chatted with in person that my truck is made up of a few different major assemblies, some from different years. Examples -
- my options list in the glove box does not show A/C but the dash and engine compartment are factory air. - I purchased the window regulator for the passenger side and installation instructions for a 1970 show removing two screws beneath the vent wing assembly - the screws do not exist on my doors... Does anyone know a good web site for identifying various assemblies, to include like tail light assemblies, grill / headlight, etc.? |

Re: Help in identifying my truck!
Start w/ the VIN on the door jamb and SPID on the glove box door. Do they match? The VIN has a digit identifying the year. There's a VIN decode page on this site.
Post some pics and people will come out of the woodwork to explain what features ID it as what year or years. We love pics. 69 and 70 were very similar but I think each had a slightly different inner grille. 72 doors have a hole for a countersink bolt under the wing window. Early years had different wing window latch things. |

Re: Help in identifying my truck!
Thanks for the response. The SPID and VIN match and decode out to a 1970. As mentioned previously, the SPID calls out -
P13 = S/M Wheel Carrier 514 = Light Red G50 = H D Rear Spring V38 = Painted Rear Bumper 617 = Red Vinyl Trim BUT under the hood and the dash are factory A/C, with everything except the compressor in place. Here are a few pictures. For the door, grill and tail lights can anyone tell me what year they are from? |

Re: Help in identifying my truck!
It looks like someone added the factory AC pieces into a non-AC truck. The 'tell' is the location of the hole that the cables go through. I'll have to find the pics... I ran into the exact scenario and posted about it here and This Thread was the result. and the pictures are there as well.

Re: Help in identifying my truck!
Your grille is 100% a 70 because I have a 70 on which I just swapped the original grill for a 69 and there is a very slight difference
