Popping noise - bushings or brakes?
I have had a popping noise on my suburban since I bought it about 3 months ago. It's in the front end. It happens the first time I hit my brakes in drive after I just was in reverse and hit the brakes.
As I mentioned, it only happens once. Also, I sometimes here it when I hit the brakes in reverse. But it always only happens once. Does this sound like a brake problem, a worn bushing, or something else? How do I check my bushings to see if they are worn or not (other than visible inspection)? Thanks!

Nope, there's no squeaking at all. Just the popping when I hit the brakes for the first time.

Sounds like bushing play to me. I would jack it up, and push, pull, wiggle all the steering parts, and ball joints...

You're starting to sound like I feel. Life is pretty hectic here, too. I keep asking questions about things that need doing on my truck, but can't seem to find the time to use all the great advice I'm getting. The one concellation - these are CHEVY trucks!!! Although neglect can kill a friendship - it usually takes a lot more than simple neglect to kill a CHEVY |
