Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Hi all. I am kinda thinking about getting a nice 67/72 truck and using as a daily driver but with modern touches like all new suspension, 5.3 engine, newer auto trans, etc. Basically a brand new powertrain under the old school truck. Who here is running a similar setup as a daily? How do you like it?

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I drive my truck all the time, over 10,000 miles the last 2 years. Turbo and all...it's just a blast to drive and cruises like stock when not in the boost.
I think it's a great idea and I certainly would recommend it to anyone.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I drive mine every day, every where I go. scrapping, groceries, the lumber yard, mail run, last winter I drove it moving to the new place. heck, I'm still hauling stuff from the old house. I love that old truck, it fits my personality to the T.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Me to! I only average around 3k a year having a short commute to work. It also serves as travel trailer puller, dump trailer puller, parts runner, and shuttling kids to soccer practice and other activities. Thats why I sold my 69 C10LB and got a Burb.

I drive my 68 almost daily. I'm retired and don't go out every day but when I do, it's the C10.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Now or when they were new ? Kids , You've got to love them ! I would think there's only a gazillion guys wanting to daily drive a 67-72 and half a gazillion already doing it . Go for it ! But buy a clean stock truck and keep it that way .

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I just got my 71 back on the road after a couple years of down time. I used to like driving it but only when I needed to but now that it looks so nice I enjoy driving it more cause I'm loving the looks it gets as much as driving it. Even though it was built to be a work truck for my business I find myself driving it even when my car would do just because I want too. Not sold on the updated technology idea though, that's why I fixed my old truck instead of buying a newer one. Less headaches, easy to fix old school technology. More dependable than my newer stuff.

Not because I need to but because I love it. Drive it every day to work about 8 miles each way.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I remember into the early 90s, there seemed to be one of these on every block locally. Other than the one in my garage, I rarely see one.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I love driving my sweet '72 C30, just be nice if it had power steering, it's my only ride but I found my next rescue C30 In the local yard. I can't wait to haul it out of there. I think a 67 or 68 but not sure. Should own it this weekend, trading my beat 94 ford F250 that isn't drivable...... well maybe one more drive, I hope it won't be Found On the Road Dead. Is it saturday yet.....

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
I trust mine to go anywhere, anytime, but..... I don't see the need for the late model drivetrain and updates. heck, I just put a set of points and plugs in mine last week, and she's ready for another hitch. Gets about 16 mpg at 60-65 or so and yea, it sucks not having air. All in all, they hold up fine with the original drivetrain, and have for the better part of 50 years.

My '72 is my daily driver. 30 miles daily to/from work. Up to 40-45 if I have classes that night.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
My 67 GMC goes to work every day and all over the place. 327 with a 350 behind it. I don't have the big tires on any more and the lift is coming back down to a 2.5 in in the next month.

Re: Who here is daily driving a 67/72?
Oh man! Now I want to cry and have a beer or three.
Here's to Daily Driver Burbans, especially green ones! My daily for the last several years. At the bank with another someone else's driver I see all the time. At mom's house. At work..... P.S. 12 mpg in town 14.8 last trip on the highway.
