OER Glass
I'm looking for new glass for my '53 3100 3-window, on-line prices vary, the best I can find is from Summit Racing, everything shipped to me for $258. The brand is OER, anyone ever used this brand? Recommendations? The best local price I got was $380, and up to $600.

Re: OER Glass
Check Bobs Classic auto glass. http://www.vendio.com/stores/bobscla...-/lid=45524922
If that 360 local price is installed it's a bargain. Even 600 installed isn't bad if they supply the channeling and rubber and do the work. That said installing glass in these trucks is way way down at the bottom of the list on things I like to do on them.

Re: OER Glass
I got mine from LMC truck, it was $417 shipped for all new glass, gaskets, felts

Re: OER Glass
I'd say compare shipping from any and all vendors on glass especially but on all parts and pieces you order that have to be shipped. One outfit's great price might end up not being a bargain when you figure in shipping and handling costs that are much higher than the competition.

Re: OER Glass
Local prices were not installed, also want clear glass. Classic Industries is very close to Summit, shipped from California (or China, wherever the glass is made) and their glass is also OER. That is still my question, anybody use this OER glass?

Re: OER Glass
I went hunting and found the company http://www.oerparts.com/
Looking on several sites the feedback seems pretty positive no matter what rig the glass is for. It seems that is the glass that most of the mail order vendors sell including Speedway, Jegs and Summit.

Re: OER Glass
I have to do the same thing with my 51 with vent windows. Auto City Glass seems to be the best price for a full window kit. I am purchasing one from them and having them bring it to a show that I don't have to pay shipping

Re: OER Glass
I bought my glass for my 55 210 sedan from Auto City Classics. Went ahead an paid a little extra for new channels already installed. Very happy with the service, price, and quality of the product. I only need the window and rear for my 3 window and 200 (26 extra for smoke tint) can't see how I can go wrong.
Will buy from them again |

Re: OER Glass
Chances are if you get glass from a local shop you will get Laminated like your truck came with, if you order it online you will more than likely get Tempered..
Usually not a big deal with new weather stripping and seals but could leave you with looser than expected glass on older weather stripping due to the glass thickness differences. Anyone have one of each they can measure up and post the thickness difference? |

Re: OER Glass
When I was building my 54-5 window,I decided I wanted power windows. So before truck went out for paint I installed power stuff. After a days work there was about a pint of my blood on the floor. So took truck to local guy to have all the glass removed for paint. He saved the old glass for the 8 months the painter had truck.after paint I took truck back to have all new smoked glass installed,he did a worderful job,He charged $850.00 complete with new rubber and channels etc.Being the professional he was, they were able to grind the gass as need to to get perfect fix.I would do it that way again. On the other hand my friend had to buy 4 corner windows to get 2 installed. He did it himself
